Genotyping Services

Genotyping is the process of determining differences in the genetic make-up (genotype) of an individual by examining the individual's DNA sequence and comparing it to another individual's sequence or a reference sequence. It has vast utility in medical research and diagnostics (searching for genes and genes variants related to diseases), pharmacogenetics (drug and treatment response), infectious disease (pathogen ID), forensics (DNA fingerprinting), transgenic animal/plant and GMO (presence of transgene and copy number), and more.

Our team of scientists have years of experience in the clinical, academic and industry lab specializing in genotyping services.

With an array of pre- and post-PCR liquid handling robotics in house including Hamilton STARs, Beckman FXs, Tecan GenesisThermo KingFisher Flex , we have the capacity to run large number of sample for genotyping efficiently and accurately. For SNP analysis, we have dedicated ABI 9700 and MJ Tetrad PCR machines, and Agilent Mx3000P qPCR systems. For fragment analysis and sequencing analysis, we utilize our ABI 3730XL and 3100 genetic analyzers. All samples are managed by our LIMS which also interfaces with the qPCR instruments and sequencers to eliminate any chance of sample mix-up.

•  SNP Analysis:  ABI TaqMan, KASPar or other Allelic Discrimination Assays
•  Fragment Analysis:  Standard commercial kit or custom design
•  Southern Blot:  96-well screen blot or mini blot
•  Sequencing:  Sanger sequencing for plasmids or PCR products; free common sequencing primers
